How grant search works

Tell Federal Awards about your organization once; it scores every current grant against that description and shows its reasoning.

  1. Describe your organization

Who you are applying as - a nonprofit, a school, university or research organization, a government or public organization, or a business - what you do, and where you work.
  2. See every grant, scored

Each open or forecasted grant gets a 0-100 match score with plain-language reasons, so the grants closest to your work come first.
  3. Open a grant

See the official details, the closing date with its time zone and the full match breakdown, with a link to the official listing on Grants.gov.
  4. See who was funded before

Market Intelligence shows historical federal grant awards from USAspending.gov - recipients, agencies and amounts.
  5. Ask AI about it

Tap the AI button on a grant for a summary grounded in that listing - eligibility, requirements, what to do next - without pasting the notice anywhere. Your first request is free.
  6. Monitor new grants

Opportunity Alerts ($14.99/month) email you new grants that match your Business Profile, checked after each of the day's three data refreshes.

What the match score checks on a grant

Fixed rules, not AI, produce the score, and missing information is shown as unknown - never counted against you.

  • Fit with your work. Whether the words that describe your work appear in the grant’s title or listing details. (NAICS codes describe businesses and contracts; grants don’t use them.)
  • Time to apply. How long until the closing date, on the Washington, DC calendar.
  • Applicant eligibility. When a listing names its eligible applicant types, they’re checked against yours and a clear exclusion is flagged as a blocker. The Grants.gov data Federal Awards syncs doesn’t currently include them, so eligibility usually shows as unknown - confirm it on the official listing.

Who it's for

  • Nonprofits looking for federal funding for their programs.
  • Schools, universities and research organizations.
  • State, local and other public organizations.
  • Businesses, for the grants that list them as eligible - and for contracts too, with the same profile.

Eligibility is never decided for you: the official listing and the issuing agency have the final word.

Questions

Is federal grant search on Federal Awards free?

Yes. Searching, match scores and their reasons, grant details and Market Intelligence are free, with no account. Opportunity Alerts are $14.99/month if you want new matches by email.

Does Federal Awards show forecasted grants?

Yes. Current listings include grants that are open and grants an agency has forecasted, until their closing date passes.

Can I apply for a grant through Federal Awards?

No. Federal Awards helps you find and evaluate grants. You apply through the official process described in the funding notice, and the agency decides eligibility and awards.

Do grant alerts cover contracts too?

Alerts follow your Business Profile: grants, contracts, or both, depending on what it seeks. See contract and grant alerts.

Does a strong match mean we'll be funded?

No. A match score reflects how well your profile lines up with what the listing states. Nothing on Federal Awards guarantees eligibility, selection or funding.
